Last year my friend Sara had a witch in tiny crochet.  She had lingered on my mind... Then recently she showed a tiny mermaid.  Couldn't stand it any longer!  I placed my order, and within days see what was in my mailbox! Link over to her facebook page Triple S Craftsto see this and other things she does.

Today is my DS birthday.  Our family tradition is that the person gets to choose their favorite meal.  We're having what we lovingly dubbed, A Pot.  It already has multiple names... Seafood Boil, Low-Country Boil, Frogmore Stew, and on and on.  Ours has crab legs, shrimp, red potatoes, corn, with spices and hot sauce.  Yummmm - getting hungry just thinking about it.  And his cake of choice - Pumpkin Bundt.

Hope everyone is staying cool and getting in a lot of stitching, sewing, punching, or any of your other favorite things to do.

Hey, Friends!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful summer filled with all your favorite activities and vacation spots.  Do you believe that it’s past the middle of July?  Oh my goodness, where does the time go?  The good thing about that is that in July I passed my 29th year of service and have only two years to work until retirement.  Woo Hoo!

Along with most of the southeast, we’ve had rain severe thunderstorms and downpours almost every day for the last two weeks.  The great part about that is that we haven’t had any 100° days, but the humidity is oppressive!

One of my six 25 feet Bradford pear trees split and fell into my neighbor’s yard.  It was only inches away from his house, and a couple of feet away from his HVAC system.  Whew! My yard man came and cut it up and hauled it away. I’ve asked him to go ahead and top out the rest of them so it doesn’t happen again.  He’s done two others, so three to go.

I saw a first recently.  Looking out onto my front porch, there was a squirrel having a little snack – on the paint of the rocking chair! Talk about nuts!!

From the last post – Yes, I did replace the white stitches (bubbles) with beads on the July WordPlay. Here’s the August Word Play, all ready to go into the frame at work.

July is also my DS birthday.  We went to Captain Steve’s fish camp for dinner with Mom, then had Boston Crème pie for dessert.  Remember that I’ve been stitching a surprise piece?  Well, it was Da’Kats by Prairie Moon.  I left off the skull wall sconces and think it came out great.  He seemed to like it, and even commented that he really liked the frame!

Thanks for stopping by, today and always.  I appreciate your thoughts and comments!

Wrinkles and a Birthday

Hey, Friends!

DS came  up for the weekend to celebrate my birthday, and we went to Mom’s for potato soup and cheese biscuits.  He got me a luscious set of sheets in cranberry (love that red)!  I've been sleeping soundly!  Mom got me a sweater and a ‘little piece’ of money – and she treated us to dinner at Red Lobster last night.  In celebration fashion, I had an appointment to get my hair trimmed, so I also had my brows ‘designed’ and my ears candled.  Have you done this?  I hear different experiences, but for me it was good.  My head feels clear and breathing is even easier.
Now on to the wrinkles...   You've seen this Greeting in better form, but wanted to show you the needle minder!  Isn't it just the sweetest?  ‘Joy’ from the 2011 JCS magazine is stitched with HDF silks .  I’ve enjoyed stitching these smalls for Christmas, and want to get some finished so they can fill my bowl.  The tiny smalls are on my holiday tree for Christmas.  This tree sits on the shelf over my computer so a glance up brings a smile to my face.
We’re coming down to final days of holiday preparations.  I hope you’re all finished shopping and baking goodies so you can sit back, relax, pick up a needle if you choose, and enjoy the festivities along the way.

Thanks for stopping by!  I appreciate y’all!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas… more in some places than others!  Around here, it’s coming along slowly, but it is coming!  I’ve been working on a menu and grocery list, plans for decorating running through my mind and stitching very little.  Late, you say?  Yes, quite, but that’s the way it has gone this year.

A few stitches added to the Sewing Box - right.

Finished the Shepherd's Bush ~ Snow for a former coworker.  She got it and was very pleased.

Started a new ornament, and think it will be a surprise - unless someone cares to guess what it is :-)

I've had a birthday since the last post - I'm 56.  Seeing that in print looks SO old, but most of the time I honestly don't feel how I think that age should feel!  It was quite nice, but very uneventful.  Celebrated with the family the evening before with dinner and gifts.  Got some lovely Christmas serving dishes from Mom and an electric drill/screwdriver from Dad (wish I'd had it when putting up the new curtain rods), and a fantastic universal remote control from DS.  His comment was something like it made him tired to watch me juggle three remotes to watch TV.  The child (yes, he's 28 - ah ha - half my age) always comes up with the Best surprises!!

Our LNS stitch night was on the actual date, so that's where I chose to be.  It was Christmas goodies' night, so we each brought some snack foods.  One of the girls was in a terrible auto accident in November (broken back, etc.) and she was able to be there in her body cast with the assistance of her DH.

Just a little blog surfing, then it's time to get up and busy.  Thank you for coming by.  I appreciate your visits and especially your comments.  Hope you'll come back again, soon!

Merry Christmas to everyone ~ I wish for you a season filled with peace ~ love ~ joy

Sing-a-Long

Someone sent this to me today, and though not all apply, I can relate. Today I am 55.

To commemorate her birthday, actress/vocalist, Julie Andrews made a special appearance at Manhattan's Radio City Music Hall for the benefit of the AARP. One of the musical numbers she performed was 'My Favorite Things' from the legendary movie 'Sound Of Music'. Here are the lyrics she used:

Botox and nose drops and needles for knitting,
Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings,
Bundles of magazines tied up in string,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Cadillacs and cataracts, hearing aids and glasses,
Polident and Fixodent and false teeth in glasses,
Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,
These are a few of my favorite things.

When the pipes leak, when the bones creak,
When the knees go bad,
I simply remember my favorite things,
And then I don't feel so bad.

Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions,
No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions,
Bathrobes and heating pads and hot meals they bring,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Back pain, confused brains and no need for sinnin',
Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin',
And we won't mention our short shrunken frames,
When we remember our favorite things.

When the joints ache, when the hips break,
When the eyes grow dim,
Then I remember the great life I've had,
And then I don't feel so bad.
