Hey, Friends!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful summer filled with all your favorite activities and vacation spots.  Do you believe that it’s past the middle of July?  Oh my goodness, where does the time go?  The good thing about that is that in July I passed my 29th year of service and have only two years to work until retirement.  Woo Hoo!

Along with most of the southeast, we’ve had rain severe thunderstorms and downpours almost every day for the last two weeks.  The great part about that is that we haven’t had any 100° days, but the humidity is oppressive!

One of my six 25 feet Bradford pear trees split and fell into my neighbor’s yard.  It was only inches away from his house, and a couple of feet away from his HVAC system.  Whew! My yard man came and cut it up and hauled it away. I’ve asked him to go ahead and top out the rest of them so it doesn’t happen again.  He’s done two others, so three to go.

I saw a first recently.  Looking out onto my front porch, there was a squirrel having a little snack – on the paint of the rocking chair! Talk about nuts!!

From the last post – Yes, I did replace the white stitches (bubbles) with beads on the July WordPlay. Here’s the August Word Play, all ready to go into the frame at work.

July is also my DS birthday.  We went to Captain Steve’s fish camp for dinner with Mom, then had Boston Crème pie for dessert.  Remember that I’ve been stitching a surprise piece?  Well, it was Da’Kats by Prairie Moon.  I left off the skull wall sconces and think it came out great.  He seemed to like it, and even commented that he really liked the frame!

 Hello!
Thankful for Independence

Wishing everyone a Happy Independence Holiday and celebration! It’s fun looking at all your patriotic designs and decorations.

Just in time for July, I’ve finished stitching the July Word Play by With Thy Needle & Thread.  I am really enjoying stitching these!

April Showers?

Hey, Friends!
On Thursday, we had rain and about 40°.  Not so much like spring, but the predictions for the coming days is climbing up to the 70’s.  Let’s hope it stays in that vicinity of spring for a while!

I started on a new piece on 28 ct planning to stitch over one, but with two threads.  How many times do I have to start a project that way before I remember – it won’t work!  I frogged what had been done and began with one strand.  Now it seems so easy…  Maybe that’s the point??  Not far enough along to share, but maybe next time.

I finished stitching May Word Play by With thy Needle and Thread.  I am really enjoying these!

Oh, and here's April hanging on the office door at work.  Not a great pic taken with my phone...

What else?  Finished the piece that was a gift from TheScarlet House at the PALS conference last year.  Thanks, Tanya.  It was a fun stitch!  It’s in a small shadow box that sort of reminded me of drift(barn) wood with shells around.  It’s stitched on 28ct Tea Linen over one.

Hope you all have a great spring weekend with a bit of time for stitching – maybe on the deck or garden?!

Ides of March

Hey, Friends!

Good morning!  Do you believe the forecast for today is 77`?  Wouldn't you know it would be on IHSW?

I’ve finished a few pieces to share!   You can see these and some other stitcher's finishes over at SNTF.

Prairie Schooler’s St. Patrick Clover is finished into a small pillow with a beaded edging.

Heart in Hand,  St. Patrick Bird, has a little ric rack with tiny star buttons.

I also finished the March Word Play.  I found a ready-made frame at Hobby Lobby (50% off) that is not as deep as a shadow box, but has a bit of space between the back and the glass.  I was able to pad the piece a bit and love the result.  One of the primary features I was looking for was for twist clips on back for easy change!  My plan all along has been to hang it on my office door.  One of my coworkers asked if I had one of “those machines” that sews embroidery! LoL  I’m stitching April now…

Have you seen that Google Reader is going away?  “will retire Google Reader (the actual date is July 1, 2013).”  I am an email subscriber to several sites, but not everyone offers that option. I saw over at Katrina’s, The Needle’s Promise, that she is switching to BlogLovin.  Think I’ll give that a try, too.  You can automatically download all your links from GR, but I’ve decided to do a little clearing.

Thanks for stopping by, today and always.  I appreciate your thoughts and comments!

March Snow

Hey, Friends!

An unusual season!  The last time I posted was on a snowy Saturday.  Our local weathermen were calling for possible, light snow flurries on Saturday.  The temperatures were not freezing, but yesterday we had enough snow to cover the ground and pine trees - a lovely sight to watch falling.  Then, as quickly as it came, it was gone!  This Sunday morning, it is 25`, but the sun is shining brightly!

Have any of you cross stitched from a punch needle pattern?  I’m guessing it probably depends on the pattern and the detailing involved, but would love to hear your opinions.

A little finish to share.  The Country Cottage Needleworks, Post Office.  Wait… no, not finished… forgot to do those little envelopes.  Shoot!  Back to finish those!  There will be stitching pics next time - promise!  But I did get a good beginning on the March WTNT Word Play yesterday during the snow show!

DS has changed jobs and moved back to our hometown!  Although he has always been just a shout away, it’s comforting to know he’s a little closer.  He stopped in for a few minutes yesterday to chat about the snow after he took his Nan’s (my mom) trash away.

I‘ve had to turn off Anonymous comments.  They were causing more and more aggravating links to this or that, unsavory remarks, and who wants that?

Thanks for stopping by, today and always.  I appreciate your thoughts and comments!
