Hello... Remember Me?

Hey, Friends!

Where have I been?  Have I mentioned that July 1, 2015 was my first official day of RETIREMENT?  WooHoo!  I’m so happy – and lazy!  No morning alarm – other than Pixie J Just doing exactly what I want, when I want.

As last post said, I took a little break from His Eye is on the Sparrow to stitch a few patriotic designs.

Free & Brave – The Drawn Thread

Flag – 1998 – Bent Creek

Old Glory – Littlehouse Needleworks

Heart Flag from “July” – Prairie Schooler

Crow with Flag – Notforgotten Farms

Sweet Land of Liberty – Samplers and Santas
Liberty Parade - Punch Needle and Primitive Stitch Magazine

Nearing the end of July, page 5 of His Eye is on the Sparrow is now complete.  Wonder why it took a while longer than it should?  Why were there so many of these friendly creatures hanging out on my driveway.  I thought it was because the motion light is stuck ON, so they were catching insects.  But wait, there may be another reason!  There was frogging to be done.

I must have counted down from the wrong birdy foot – the flowers were in the wrong spot!  I thought, can I just switch positions of the flowers and the ‘donkey’ animal, but no, that wouldn’t work.  The frogging began.... and with a little help from the Boo-Boo Stick, the fuzzy fibers were gone. That big blue bird at the bottom seemed to take forever!

I fell in love with Blackbird Designs, In Friendships’s Way!  After a bit of searching found the little glass-sided Strawberry box and the Button box.  I didn’t want my Strawberry box quite as aged, so love the way it turned out.  Also love the button box!  I used Annie Sloan chalk paints and waxes.

Top Strawberry Box is from BBD, In Friendship's Way.

Bottom Button Box is from BBD (yellow).

We've had one of the hottest summers since the 1950's.  Hope you're having summer sprinkles and cool breezes!  Thanks for stopping by!

When you think things are falling apart, it may just be that everything is falling into place!

Here Comes Summer!

Hey, Friends!

Just want to pop in to share that His Eye is on the Sparrow, by Heartstring Samplery, page 4, is stitched.  It was started on January 1, 2015, and that completes row one.  I’m planning to take a little break now to stitch some of my favorite Patriotic pieces.

I don’t think I ever shared with you the piece I stitched to exchange at the Primitive Stitchers Retreat.  It’s from With Thy Needle & Thread, Heart in Hand.  I finished it by placing it into one of the old watch cases.  Also added some tiny buttons, then used some gingham ribbon and bead to complete the necklace.  The recipient seemed to be pleased with it.

If you’ve followed my blog for a while, you know that I’ve been looking forward to this time for several years.  It’s so close now, I can almost taste it.  I have 15 working days until retirement.  WooHoo!

Such a nice beginning, with low humidity and bright sunshine today, which makes it seem not so hot.  Hope you’re all enjoying a fun and safe Memorial Day weekend, too!  Take a few minutes to be thankful and remember the brave who gave all.

Hey, Friends!

I’m wondering if I need to quit stitching - said facetiously!  I’ve done it again – stitched 3/4 of a page with the fabric turned the wrong way!  Maybe most of us have done it, so you know that frustrated feeling when you realize it!  Now I’m thinking, just stop and cry or stitch until next border and call it a mini sampler.  Think I’ll do the latter and just fume a little instead of crying, but am having a hard time staying motivated now.  It is finally finished. By the way, the last time’s mishap is in a bag someplace waiting for the decision!

Came across other stitchers who have started or pulled out their Anniversaries of the Heart: Cindy in Virginia and Carol at Garden of Stitches.

DS and I went to an estate auction one Saturday recently.  I won a couple of frames, which was all I bid on.  We went by a huge Asian grocery market, then had Vietnamese for lunch.  Always enjoy spending time with him!

I found a tall, four foot, wooden dryer rack at the thrift store for $6.00. New ones are close to $50.  Need to get some of those stitched pieces finished!  At least one is going in to my LNS, Stitch and Frame, for the 20% off framing special next week.
Found on the internet an easy, free pants pattern and have made a couple of pairs for the coming spring weather.  The last couple of years I’ve worn those layered, peasant type skirts, and I’m tired of them!

Since it’s almost mid-April, near Easter, the out like a lamb comment would be a bit late!
