Eve's Garden

Hey, Friends!
Have you had a ‘fallish’ weekend with lots of rain, clouds, but lower temperatures, too.  High 60s to low 70s feels like a typical early November here. It has felt great – and a great stitching weekend!  I’ve told you (and showed you) before how much morning glories remind me of my ‘first days of school,” and they’re blooming, too.  The local schools' year begins this coming Wednesday.

I picked up the 2013 Just Cross Stitch Halloween issue from my LNS the other day.  There are some really cute designs – but just not ready for Halloween stitching yet.  I put in my order for the Christmas edition.  I didn’t get the Christmas preview edition. Am I missing something great?

What AM I ready to stitch?  I’ve been stitching Shepherd’s Bush, Eve’s Garden, and it has been so long since I posted, it is finished - LL Maritime 36 ct! I did my own conversion to Vikki Clayton’s Hand Dyed Fibers.  I made a couple of other modifications – like Adam’s leaf!  I guess it was the ‘point’ of the leaf, but I HAD to round it off a little.   I also left off the suggested buttons, and changed to color of the verse to a deeper, more red color.  It does change the overall look of the sampler, but I love it.  Thank you so much to Terri from Chocolates for Breakfast for loaning me the chart.  I really loved stitching it.  I do agree with some of Terri’s comments about the symbols.

Thanks for stopping by and saying, Hey!

Not just another ornament SAL

Hey, Friends!
I’ve been browsing around to many of the Ornament SAL pages and notice that many of us I tend to do more stitching than finishing!  If there is an existing Ornament Finishing SAL, I haven’t been able to find it, so I’ve decided to create one.

Would you like to join a blog to only publish finishes – no matter how long ago they were stitched.  Don’t we all have a stack of stitched, but not finished ornaments?  They could be any type – New Year, Valentine, St. Patrick, Easter, Patriotic, Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.  Tell me others I’ve skipped in your comments, please.

Hopefully, this will be a motivation for us me to get some of those lingering pieces done, and also a great way for you to share some of your creativity and skill with those of us who are finishing challenged!

If you’re interesting in joining, please visit Stitched: Now to Finish.  This is the first blog I've opened for others to join.  If you have experience, I'd appreciate your advice.

May 2013 be filled with Happy Stitching!  and finishing!

What’s up for 2013?

Hey, Friends!
Blogging friends are the best and RAoKs (Random Acts of Kindness) are SO special.

I got an email from Cherie at 123 Stitch saying I had received a gift certificate, and after a little investigation discovered it was from Jackie of Scattered Threads.  A couple of Adam and Eve charts that were on my Wish List are now here with me! Again, thank you so much for your thoughtfulness, Jackie.

Have you seen the project bags made by Faye, the Carolina Stitcher?  They are not only beautiful, but made so well with great quality and excellent details!  And her precious scissor fobs – don’t you just love, love ém?  I sure do.  Thank you so much, Faye.  I’m thrilled and delighted.  If you’re interested in getting Faye to make some for you, click the link above and check out her creative finishing, too.

Lots of you start a new project on New Year’s Day, and I usually do, too. The old wives tale says that whatever you do on New Year’s Day will be what you do throughout the year, and I don’t want to be starting lots of new projects, but rather finishing them.  This year I've decided to work on WIPs, so on New Year’s Day I’ll continue stitching on Mary Gibson, and not a new start piece.  I have done an inventory of sorts, and decided which of my WIPs will be on the list.  There are several that I’ll hang onto for a while before getting rid of them, but that is likely!  I do plan to continue with Country Cottage Needleworks, Santa’s Village.  Santa’s House and Poinsettia Place are finished and awaiting North Pole Post Office.

Thanks for stopping by, today and always.  I appreciate your thoughts and comments!
