Hey, Friends!

I’m wondering if I need to quit stitching - said facetiously!  I’ve done it again – stitched 3/4 of a page with the fabric turned the wrong way!  Maybe most of us have done it, so you know that frustrated feeling when you realize it!  Now I’m thinking, just stop and cry or stitch until next border and call it a mini sampler.  Think I’ll do the latter and just fume a little instead of crying, but am having a hard time staying motivated now.  It is finally finished. By the way, the last time’s mishap is in a bag someplace waiting for the decision!

Came across other stitchers who have started or pulled out their Anniversaries of the Heart: Cindy in Virginia and Carol at Garden of Stitches.

DS and I went to an estate auction one Saturday recently.  I won a couple of frames, which was all I bid on.  We went by a huge Asian grocery market, then had Vietnamese for lunch.  Always enjoy spending time with him!

I found a tall, four foot, wooden dryer rack at the thrift store for $6.00. New ones are close to $50.  Need to get some of those stitched pieces finished!  At least one is going in to my LNS, Stitch and Frame, for the 20% off framing special next week.
Found on the internet an easy, free pants pattern and have made a couple of pairs for the coming spring weather.  The last couple of years I’ve worn those layered, peasant type skirts, and I’m tired of them!

Since it’s almost mid-April, near Easter, the out like a lamb comment would be a bit late!

  1. Sounds like a nice time with your son. I know what you mean about the stitching. It is easy to get discouraged but I bet the piece will be very pretty and you will be the only one who knows about the mistake.

  2. Your piece looks pretty anyway, despite everything! Nice that you had time with your son! Good deal on the drying rack. And good for you for making your own pants!

  3. As long as you were peaceful when stitching... I think that's what counts. Your piece is so pretty..enjoy it! Here' my long practice of starting a new piece. Once I determine which way the fabric is supposed to go, I put an several x's in the top right corner. That way I never turn my piece the wrong way, especially in the early stages when the design has little definition. So glad you and DS had a good day together.

  4. Happy Easter! I never thought to use the drying rack to display my stitched pieces I haven't framed. What a great idea! I have one that I never use because if I can't put it in the dryer I don't wear it. :)
    Happy Stitching!

  5. Maybe that little sampler was just waiting to come out.... and you provided the door! Still very pretty!

Hope you have a great day.... the weather is certainly nice. Hope you find your stitching mojo again.

  6. I think that's the perfect solution for your sampler. 99% of people seeing it won't have a clue there's anything missing, and the other 1% will think how clever you are! Great buy on that rack! Happy Easter to you!

  7. I had a frustrated mishap on one of my pieces in February and lost my steam on it. It is still sitting and need to be frogged; I did want to cry. I've been working on and off on AoTH too and actually was working on it last evening. I really need to get that piece further along.
TFS and your finished piece is quite beautiful…Love those colors!

  8. Darn it! So sorry about the stitching. It will make a lovely small sampler.
Love the drying rack and all your lovely stitching that it is holding.
    Have a great week!

  10. That sampler is wonderful even if it's a bit different than intended! Just think of it as your special touch. Great buy on the drying rack, and it even looks pretty! Have a Happy Easter!

  12. Oh, no!! At least you can end it easily and you'll still have a very pretty finish, Charlene!

That is so nice that you and your son enjoy going to auctions together. I can only get my middle son to tag along when I go to antique shops (and that is just once a year when we are in the Outer Banks :)

And guess what--it's snowing like crazy here this morning!! Spring weather was in evidence this weekend, but it seems to have gone back into hiding for the moment. Hope you're having a lovely spring day :)

  13. Oh no Charlene!! I don't think I've made that mistake yet. I think it looks good how you ended it and I wouldn't have known the wiser if it was supposed to be longer! Well done on winning some frames. I've always wanted to go to an auction but haven't done so yet. Vietnamese food is amazing...especially the Pho Bowls. Great dryer rack you found and at a stellar price!!

Hope you have a wonderful Easter!!
