St Patrick's Day

Hey, Friends!

Don’t forget to wear a touch of green on Monday so you won’t get pinched!  Are you preparing the St. Patrick’s meal?  Would you believe I’m making my first attempt at Corned Beef Brisket following The Pioneer Woman’s recipe?  Sure does smell good!

It has been a very South Carolina March this week - starting with 70s Monday, and it was 24° when I left home Friday morning, and supposed to be 72° today!!  There are a few payoffs...

I took this sky cloud shot yesterday and noticed the semi rainbow.  I read a while back what those are, but can't find it again.  Does anyone know what these are?

Next on my stitch list for 2014 is a Heartstring Samplery piece, but will wait until a bit more is done to share it with you.  I’ve seen several people, like Garden of Stitches and The Twisted Stitcher, working on their BBD Anniversaries of the Heart projects recently.  It’s not on my list (yet), but I’m tempted…  We’ll see:

Did you see the finish work that Faye – AKA Carolina Stitcher – did recently on the LHN Sheep Virtues?  If not, go take a look. They’re a beautiful set!

I mentioned a couple of posts back that my DS had asked about me knitting a hat for him.  Well, I showed him my experiment piece the other day and he said, can I have it?  Guess that means he liked it well enough.  Have been playing around with size of yarn and needles, and I picked up some wool to try next.

Thanks for stopping by to say Hello!  I appreciate your comments a lot!

  1. Happy St. Patrick's Day to you. We are about to head to a Market that is sampling Irish Beers this PM. I will look up that recipe as I love Corned Beef.

  2. Happy SPD to you! Just finished our dinner, I put a big honkin' corned beef in the crockpot with beef broth to cover and a couple bay leaves at 9 this morn, ready by 6, sooo tender, served w/lots of mustard, mashed taters and coleslaw, yummy. Enjoy yours:)

  4. I'm cooking my first corned beef, too! Can't believe I've never made one. Truth is, I've never even tried it, so we'll see! Happy St. Patrick's Day!

  5. Good luck with the corned beef, Charlene. I only had one experience with it and that was years ago--my oldest son's 9th birthday. He took one bite of it and promptly got sick right there at the dinner table in front of all the relatives. Needless to say, I've never made it since :)

Your weather sounds very up and down--typical for March! We're at 27 right now and it's not supposed to warm up much more than that. But, at least the sun is shining and the robins have come back home for the year. Happy St. Patrick's Day to you--hope your day includes some stitching time :)

  7. Being of Irish descent, I have had corned beef and cabbage probably every March 17th of my life! If my mom didn't make it, then I did when I was on my own. Don't know about recipes... REAL Irish food is bland and not so spicy/tasty... so I just boil mine all day long in water (sans the 'spice pack'). Period. Throw cabbage in the pot at the last hour or so. Boil potatoes. SOME years I make Irish Soda Bread from scratch. Not this year... not feeling well enough to do that yet. Perhaps it is habit, but my entire family loves it--sons-in-laws, even the youngest granddaughter! Hope you enjoy it! Hugs!

  8. I love corned beef and cabbage, but Paul made it so well - every St. Paddy's day for me - I don't think I'll ever cook it. Thanks for the green reminder. I have children coming over in the morning and I'm sure they'll try to pinch me if I'm not sporting green!

  9. How was the corned beef? I have my first attempt in the crockpot this morning. Fingers crossed! I love the Pioneer Woman's recipes.
The hat looks great. I am looking forward to seeing some stitching too :)
    Have a great week!
