Stitch and Bit@h

Learned this week that the Zocor I’ve been taking to lower cholesterol has elevated my liver function, so I have to stop that and go back to attempt to find something else.  I need to research for natural cholesterol lowering methods. Any suggestions for would be appreciated.  I read someplace that this liver function could make one feel tired and cause weight gain… mine’s probably just natural.  Blah, blah, blah…  Nothing but complaints!  Quit smoking, elevated cholesterol, bp, gained weight, feel crappy – don’t like my hair, fat, but at least all my wrinkles are filled in WITH FAT!!
What a crazy week.  I am SO tired of the mess at work, it just makes me sick to have to go there every day.  I really have a good job, but it’s the people!  How often you hear “I hate my job, but love the people.”  Not in this case.  One of these days we’ll be getting a new manager, and perhaps then I can change locations…  Doubtful, but perhaps!
After seeing this Oakhaven Designs SAL on someone else’s blog, I just had to join – do I need another SAL?  No!  But it’s so sweet…  It’s a monthly calendar of sorts, and I’ve chosen to follow most of the colors chosen by the designer, and to stitch the hearts in a different color each month.  These are sulky holographics thus far.
The rest of this week’s stitching has been finishing up part 4 of the Needlemania 2 SAL from Sabine at The Sampler Life group.
Thank you for stopping by and please do come back again soon!  Maybe next time there will be something other than complaints!

  1. I have used that phrase myself about a previous job. I really love the work, I just couldn't stand the people that I worked with...especially the manager.

I think if you have the time for the SAL, then there are never enough to work on.

I have been on Zocor for years and haven't had any issues with my liver, yet. I get tested every 3-6 months since my medical is through the Veteran's Admin. I wish you luck in finding a natural replacement. I think the best way to start is to lower the amount of high cholesterol foods you eat. If I hear or read anything I will be sure to pass it along!

  2. One thing you might want to try to help your liver: milk thistle. My dad's on meds that affect his liver and whenver those numbers go up, he takes a bottle's worth, and it helps clean it out.

    *going back to lurking*

  5. Love your wips. They look gorgeous!

One product that my family and friends have seen a lot of success with is Zija. Zija is an all natural nutritional drink that has many health benefits, including helping to lower cholesterol, weight loss, helping to lower blood pressure, and boosting energy. Check www.zijateamelite.com and click the testimonial tab for information. Email me if you are interested. My husband is a distributor and could put you in touch with someone in your area.

Hope you get to feeling better.

  7. Love the stitching!! And I wish you luck getting meds worked out.

I hear you on the job thing, too. I am running into almost daily conflicts now, with people in our corporate office, and it really is frustrating - and really making me hate going in. Those of us in my location really have a well-oiled machine, and the bozos in the other location are just constantly throwing monkey wrenches into the works. But now's not the time to be looking for an alternative :(

  8. Interesting..my hubby started cholesterol medicine and the doc said something was going on with his liver last time he was there. I am going to have to check this out!

Sorry about work too...it's a shame when the place you spend a large part of your time drives you crazy!

    Love your stitching.

  9. Hope you can work the cholesterol thing out, Charlene. I've always had borderline high cholesterol (bad genes), but they keep saying I don't need meds because my HDL is so high due to my exercising I guess.

I love my job and my co-workers, just hate the ridiculously low pay that comes with being a librarian...

    Your WIPs are both great!!

  10. So sorry to hear about the setbacks and hard times at work. Hope they improve soon. I do have a few suggestions for cholesterol lowering. Have heard first and second hand that all of these truly help.
Take garlic supplements - get a good, COATED, ODORLESS, capsule. They're good for other things, too, but every little bit helps. Makes a huge difference if you don't!
These next two I've heard are both supposed to be excellent.
Drink 1/4 to 1/3 cup red wine each night (for those that don't drink like me; just remember, it's medicinal!)Some recommend the scuppernong wines especially.
Last, but not least, one of our closes friends swears by this one.
Buy Montmorency straight cherry juice. About $13 for a 12 - 16 oz. bottle, I think. But you only take 2 T. each night. Only place I know to find it is Harris Teeter.
    Good luck!

  11. I'm taking ZOCOR for years now too, so good to hear about the effects and ideas on how to lower cholesterol.

Both WIP's are coming along fine.

  12. Hope you get these issues squared away, Charlene, and that your stitching at least takes your mjind off them. Hugs.

  13. Hi girlfriend. My mother fights the high cholesterol and has also had to quit the statin drugs. She just very carefully watches her diet and "saves up" for eating out or special occasions.

As far as the weight gain, that could be a thryoid "thing." And sadly, it could also be a side effect of the quitting smoking.
