8.21.11 Edited to Add Mystery Part III
Rather than another post, I decided to just add this photo to this post. Last night I finished stitching With Thy Needle and Thread Birds of a Feather Mystery Sampler. I'm trying to decide on framing now, and will post again after I decide.
Are you always amazed at how young the girls are who stitched these new reproduction samplers? Take for example, the new one I saw at Shakespear’s Peddler this morning. It’s a red primarily alphabet sampler with a cute verse, and this girl was eight years old! Eight? The eight year old’s I’ve known couldn’t sit still 10 minutes – much less long enough to stitch a letter, much less an alphabet! I know… things are different, times have changed; but eight years old? What do you think?
Remember the mirror I bought at French Hens in Manning a couple of weeks ago? Here’s the beginning of my collage. The left is the Plum Street Sampler freebie that had been made into a pillow, but I couldn’t think of a way to dangle it from the wall J and the right is CHS, Sarah Hook. The little sculpted angel is very hard to see. I’ve had it for years, with no perfect place to hang until now! These are the only two that were already stitched, but there are others to come...
Hope you’re having a joyful, cool weekend filled with your loved ones and lots of stitching time! Thanks for taking time to drop by, and hope to see you again soon!

and Happy Stitching

I love your angel mirror and the tile, too and they look great all grouped together!
ReplyDeleteYour mirror looks great in between the beautiful samplers. and the addition of the tile gives it such a beautiful finishing touch.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I saw Ann Grant, and I'm SO in love with this sampler. It's gorgeous, but HUGE too. No clue how an 8year old was able to create a sampler like that. I couldn't have done so as a child, that's for sure
I love the mirror and your stitching looks great next too.
ReplyDeleteYes thank you, lol, don't think the temperature has got out of the 60s the whole summer, and I do mean the outside temperature.......:)))! Love that mystery sampler.
ReplyDeletethey all look great together! can't wait to see what's next! and congrats on the finish!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your finish, it looks fantastic. It has also given me the icentive to stitch on mine and hopefully get it finished before too long.
ReplyDeleteYay!! Your Mystery SAL is quite lovely!! Congrats on finishing it! Mine is sadly neglected... Moving on--your wall is looking good. That mirror is gorgeous! Looking forward to seeing more there... Hugs!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your finish! Your collage with the mirror is wonderful and the angel tile goes so perfectly with it.
ReplyDeleteYour mirror looks lovely as does your finished mystery sampler.
ReplyDeleteOh, your mystery sampler is stunning! I love the colors. I can't wait to see it framed. I agree about the 8-year-old and stitching. But they didn't have to compete with computers and iPods. lol!
ReplyDeleteWoohoo!! Congratulations on the finish! It looks great.
ReplyDeleteI love your wall arrangement. The angel tile is so pretty. I have Sarah Hook as a long-neglected UFO. I started it on 28 ct fabric and it's just waaaay too big. I need to get it out and finish it, though. It's also waaaay too pretty to not be done! ;)
Nice finish on Birds of a Feather. I must admit I am stuck on part 1...got side tracked with Loose Feathers and Woodland Berries.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time I've checked out your blog. I'll be back!
