Saving Daylight

Is it as hard for you to believe as it is for me that it’s time to fall back from daylight savings time?  It’s almost November, which means Thanksgiving will be here shortly – then Christmas!  How time just flies these days.

Here’s the update to the NovaLee Christmas Noel that I stitched Friday night with the Let’s Stitch group.

I got a package of charts I’d ordered online in the mail. I just love ‘em, but when in the world will they ever get stitched? So many loves and ideas, so little stitching time…  don’t we all feel that way?

The other day on Stitch Bitch, Anna asked us to show what’s in our stitching bag. Well, since I’m evidently not as tidy as Anna, I decided to show what is always at my fingertips beside my stitching chair.  Of course there’s the chart, plus these days on 36ct there’s the magnifier glasses, scissors, needles, pins, and threads.  I’ve talked about this before, but the thing that keeps me going is to have a thread organizer – this one is what I use most often – made from a painter’s canvas with foam board on top with a list of the thread colors to stick the needle in when it’s time to switch colors.  Love it.  Don’t have to stop and thread the needle when it’s time to go back to another color.   When it is time to travel, stitch night, for example, I grab one of most of these things and drop them into my tote. Of course, a lot of times something’s missing, but most times it turns out fine!

Well, friends, the time has come for me to ask for your positive thoughts – I’m going to quit smoking; again!  Made up my mind last week, but had to get the doctor to prescribe some ‘help’, and with Chantix you take it for several days before laying them down.  So, Sunday, November 1 I’ll start on the meds, and we’ll see if it works as well as some say.  It’s never easy, but I’ve done it before, and what may help is that I’ve had bronchitis for the last several days which makes me smoke less.  Another “good thing” is that I’ve never smoked inside my house.  If you have success tips to share, please do!

Thank you so much for stopping by today, and I wish you a Spooky and Safe Halloween!

  1. I am wishing you the BEST of luck with quitting smoking. I quit 18 years ago and it was one of the BEST things I ever did in my life.

I LOVE your sampler-it's just looking so gorgeous!!

You got some great stash there :) I asked my dad to get me another file cabinet with hanging folders (his company is closing down and he has access to a few GREAT items and the file cabinets are one of those and they are really nice) as I have filled mine completely up with my charts and need another one....hmmmm....guess I should stop stash shopping.... NOT!!! :)

    I hope you have a Happy Halloween , neighbor :) :) :):)

  2. Your Noel piece is going to be fabulous, Charlene! Between cross stitch, knitting, and quilting patterns to do, I need to live at least 800 more years, and it looks like you'll be there with me! Happy Halloween, and good luck with your NS plan! I hope you succeed!!!

  3. Good luck with the quit smoking campaign.

Frankly, I need more than one stinking extra hour! Can't we just stop the clock for a week. I am so far behind on my Christmas stitching I'm gonna have to give up sleep soon.

  6. Thank you so much for your comments on my blog..love your sampler, and also enjoyed the Charlotte Church music. Love her! Wishing you much luck in your smoking cessation. My mom quit cold turkey after smoking 2 packs per day for many years..they didn't have Chantix back then, but she cannot stand the smell of cigarettes anymore. Good luck!

  7. Your Christmas sampler is turning out beautifully!

Best of luck with quitting smoking, its a very hard thing to do, I've seen my Mum try several times and not once succeed. But then she's never gotten help, only tried to cut down on her own. I think you're going about this the right way.

  9. I wish you great success in quitting - My 76 year old mother quit cold turkey after having smoked for over 50 years, and she will say, it has nothing to do with luck, but everything to do with hard work! Not only will you feel better, you can spend the money you saved on fun stitchy stuff! Hooray!

  10. Your SAL is coming along nicely. Good Luck with Quitting Smoking. I am the worst Smoker there is. You'd think I could Quit quite easily, but No Luck in that. I have never smoked indoors, I hat e the smell (ashtrays, breath, hands, and clothes)I have tried the Chantex, but didn't work for me. It haleped my husband for a while, but he started back. I really hope it works for you. Good Luck!
