Today I thought I’d share with you a little of the Southern Winter Wonderland.
This is how my car looks today, January 11 2011, or 01/01/11, at about 9:30am. Over top of that six inches of snow is at least a half inch of icy stuff. Take a look at this locus limb – that’s about a quarter plus inch of ice that fell after dark last night.
Here’s the path to Pixie’s potty spot. Not only does she have to smell the ground, but the snow is up to her…belly, so it’s a bit difficult to get the correct angle… There HAVE been a few times when I got us both dressed for outdoor activities, opened the door, and she turned around and walked back into the kitchen as if to say, "Oh, I forgot. Not now!"
Today is another snow day for us. Not only is the college closed, but there’s No Way I’d be out driving on these roads! Left is the road in front of my neighbor's house. Next is my driveway - no shoveling for me - that's what sunshine is for; right? But there isn't any that I can see, and with the temp hanging out at 28, well, it may be later tomorrow before there's enough meltdown.
Let’s see how much progress I made yesterday on BBD Winter Wonderland. Doesn’t look like so much, but I’m certainly enjoying it! More today…
I’ve had several comments about us southerners having more snow this year than our northern neighbors. Yes, it does seem to be upsidedown, and I won’t speak for the rest of us, but I’m lovin’ it. Y’all be patient and yours will come…ours is just a tad on the early and deep side. I heard the forcaster say yesterday that this is more than we’ve had since 2004 – I had 18 inches on my deck that year – and I believe it was February!!
Thanks for coming by today. I look forward to hearing your Needler’s Point and checking in to see what you’ve been up to lately!

We got our snow today - not much, but enough to close the schools but not the colleges. We are supposed to get more today and another batch on Sunday.
ReplyDeleteThanks for giving me support on my attempts, we will see how it all works out!!
Love snow days - mostly rain days over here, lol! Left you a comment on the BBD blog! Enjoy the rest of your day!
ReplyDeleteOur buses were decked out with chains this afternoon, all ready for the "snow event" which hasn't come yet, and it's nearly 8 PM. Happy 1/11/11, Charlene. I love your winter stitchery!
ReplyDeleteYour Winter Wonderland is looking gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI wish we had snow back. I hate the dark, dull days and rain we've been getting. I am hoping the snow will return or at least some frosts.
I'm glad you are enjoying the snow Charlene. It looks like you've been using your time wisely :-)
ReplyDeleteYour piece is beautiful. I'm enjoying a snow day today. Hope I get a lot of stitching accomplished. I'm so easily side tracked. :-)
Be safe!
Your stitching is fairly coming along, are you secretly hoping for more stitching, oops snow days. We had snow really early this year in November and the temp. has been really low too, most days staying at around -3 centigrade. I have been driving on roads like your drive, it's not great, but needs must if I want to go anywhere, work included.

Wow, that's a lot of snow!! And a lot of progress on your Winter Wonderland! :) I guess the snow outside your door is an added incentive to stitch a wintery piece. :)
ReplyDeleteGA got blasted with snow and lots of ice...just a mess. Love your progress on your BBD SAL. I have got to get busy on mine! :-) Blessing to your family for the passing of your aunt.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, look at the snow! BRRRRRRR
ReplyDeleteI wanted to pop in (finally) and say thanks for stopping by. I don't get out much anymore. LOL.
I see you're keeping busy, really busy. You've done some lovely work.
Take care.
