Hey, Friends!
Have you been seeing the snow of all our stitching friends? Judy commented that my sidebar thermometer stated that it was 71 degrees (the thermometer was wrong) and it was snowing at her home. It still is, by the way, and beautiful. The outlook isn’t so positive around these parts this year (February?). But if you want to see some lovely snow, grab a big cuppa something hot and take a look over at Michele’s or Beth’s.
I live in the country which means there’s a horse pasture across the road and a creek beside my house, and we use well water. When one has a well there are parts (don’t know exactly what they are) that are above ground and should be covered in some manner. I’ve always said NO to fake rocks, so for that first Christmas I asked my folks for a ‘wishing well’ cover. This is a spring picture from 2009. We’ve been here about 15 years and it finally crumbled. I have been looking all around town at hardware and places where there were wooden swings, etc. but couldn’t find another wishing well… so I crumbled, too, and now have a fake rock!
Remember those knitting needles from the consignment shop? I took a couple days off from stitching and started a few scarves. That didn’t last very long – but they’re there when I need to busy my hands! A little stitchy gift surprise is in the works, so I won’t show it just yet.
Then I pulled out Mary. She’s been napping since the urge to stitch smalls hit me – when was that … October? Nope, it was November 6. Oh, Mary Who? Why, it’s Mary Gibson. I was happy to see her and get reacquainted! She’s a very light and bright girl!
I'm grateful that DS visited on Saturday!
Thanks for all your kind words and comments. Sometimes they feel like hugs, don’t they?

The fake rock doesn't look too bad and maybe someday you will find what you really want! Mary Gibson is looking great. I wonder what the little knitted piece could be?
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize about well covers -- who knew! The fake rock looks fine to me. :D nice knitting starts on the scarves. And love Mary Gibson -- so bright and pretty!
ReplyDeleteThe fake rock looks good to me! Nice knitting--I keep sending links to my daughter, hoping she'll do some stuff for me. So far she has a scarf in process, I think. Mary Gibson looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteOur weather is similar--it just seems so weird--no winter at all!
I have a well also and have the little black cover sticking up. I like the idea of the wishing well. The rock looks good too.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the rocks sometimes look out of place but you've got to do what you got to do!
ReplyDeletehappy stitching on Mary...looks like she is coming along nicely.
P.S. hoping for some snow in february too!
Mary is beautiful. I am glad that you guys are spending some time together again.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful Sunday.
Charlene, the rock looks pretty real in the picture, what if you added a few real rocks to make a grouping, then you might like it better. Your Mary Gibson sampler is looking nice!
ReplyDeleteHopefully you will come across a wishing well but the rock does look fine.
ReplyDeleteMary looks so pretty.
Glad to see Mary came out to play again. The fake rock doesn't look bad, but too bad about not being able to find a replacement wishing well. I remember my grandma having one in her front yard.
ReplyDeleteI love Mary and your Sarah finish! I get in those smalls moods too...can't get enough of them, but your larger projects do get way-laid.....I am on a mission myself to finish MY Sarah before I startm another small.....
ReplyDeleteGood job and yea, they can keep that snow!!! Take care, Faye
awww shame about your wishing well ... don't you know any one handy with wood ??? mind you the rock looks ok but not as nice as the well ... and coooo nice to see Mary again :) love mouse xxxxx
ReplyDeleteLove your stitching and your scarves are beautiful colors. I get the urge to crochet every once in a while but it usually doesn't last long. I sit there and think...I could be stitching instead. But then again, I'm usually thinking that now matter what I'm doing.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad Mary woke up from her nap. :) She's a beauty!
ReplyDeleteSnow is beautiful, but I'm not asking for any.
I don't think the fake rock looks bad. :)
Mary is looking great, Charlene! And how nice that you're putting those knitting needles to good use :)
ReplyDeleteWe got 8" of snow here on Saturday. Fortunately, I was up in NY helping out my parents so I missed the shoveling :) Now, it is absolutely pouring out--why, oh why, do I have to go to work today!!
I really like the Mary chart--the colors are so bright and cheery! I may have to search out the chart to see what it says in its entirety! The fake rock is okay--it may look better after some weather! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI like the knitted scarves. Perhaps you could find someone to build a wishing well for you, but the rock works okay too.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors on Mary and look forward to seeing your progress.
Your rock will do for now, what you really want is out there and I'm sure you will find it. The scarves are looking good and shouldn't take you too long to finish, when the mood takes you. Mary does look like a bright cheery stitch.
ReplyDeleteLike the wishing well. The fake rock isn't that bad. The scarves you have done are pretty. Switching off projects is nice.
ReplyDeleteOur snow turned to slush and then the wind arrived. It's been a crazy 10 days. I'd willingly trade for a lovely sunny day; even rain looks good now! Happy Stitching!
ReplyDeleteI live in the country too, my well cap is in the back of my house so we don't bother hiding it.
ReplyDeleteNice to see an old project seeing the light of day.
