March Ends with a Lamb, too!

Hey, Friends!
Last week I did some experimenting with walnut stains.  I have a few old, dark, flaky, walnuts, so I put a couple in a plastic, carry out salad dish with water and put them in the microwave for about five minutes.  Then I plopped in a piece of light colored fabric.  I left this to soak overnight.  The next day, I lined a cookie sheet with foil, turned on the oven to about 225 and let it bake for an hour, turned off the heat and left it in to cool.  Here are the results before (top) and after pressing.  I did pour on a little extra of the liquid before baking.

Spring is really in full on progress.  Pixie is enjoying a while on the deck see the red dogwood in the background?  There were not nearly so many blooms last year.

Thanks for stopping by, today and always.  Your kind words are always appreciated!

I'm grateful for my fur kid, Pixie!

Lamb March Continues ...

Hey, Friends!

Even though we’ve passed St. Patrick’s Day, my green has still been on…  Here’s the finish of Prairie Schooler’s St. Patrick’s clover using DMC variations 4045.

Then there is Bent Creek’s Happy St. Patrick’s Day.  That will be enough, for now and I’m on to a different color…  It was going to be With thy Needle and Thread’s Peter & Peep, but some of the fibers were not in stash, so it will have to wait…

A shopping did I go this month!  Some of the cutest little goodies have arrived in my mail.  Did you see that Myra has created a place to sell some of her lovely crafts called Myra's Handmades?  I was just tickled to get this darling Bird with the lock dangling from his beak and would you believe she whipped up this matching mug mat?  Would you believe they were in my hands in just a couple of days’ time?

And then there are the precious boxes from Marly at Samplers and Santas.  They were so cute online, but as photos usually are, they are even better in person.  I was able to get exactly the ones I wanted - some of my favorite sampler themes!

There was a new moon this week which means it’s TuSAL time!  Can you spot any of the green?  Remember that mine is displayed over in the right side bar à.  If you’re interested in joining, just link over to DaffyCat’s site!

Thanks for stopping by, today and always!  It does my heart good to know that you’ve been by and to see your kind words!

I'm grateful for rain showers that washed away some of the sticky pollen!

Top o' the Day

Hey, Friends!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to everyone!  Hope yours is as warm and beautiful as ours here in the South of Carolina.  What?  The door to the deck is open and the
a/c has just come on... it's 80 degrees out there.

I’m a winner, I’m a winner!  You can tell how tickled I am but unless you read about it someplace else, it will only be revealed here when it arrives!

Having so much fun stitching for March, and although I’ve never been one for much St. Patrick’s Day celebration, ‘the green’ has turned me on this year!  First there's St. Patrick Bird by Heart in Hand.  You see I've taken some liberty - as I usually do - shhhh …  and left off the words.  If you want real inspiration, hop over to see Carol's bowl.

Did you see Marly’s pretty BoaF Boys?  I commented that I couldn’t find Gold Santa, and, bless her heart, she told me where she found hers.  I called, and would you believe they still had!  How lucky was that? Maybe ‘the green’ played in my favor J

Ah... there's a bag with something that shouldn't be bent hanging on my mailbox... better run out there to see what it could be...

Thanks for stopping in for this brief post, and I really appreciate all your kind words and comments - even when I don't take the time to respond personally.

I'm grateful for friends who share their sources!

Marching in ...

Hey, Friends!
I really didn’t expect y’all to pay such close attention to my toes in the last post… Just a quick recolor job and as I now see with clear topcoat all around!  But glad you like the color, too.  It came from Sally’s, called Sally-Girl.  The bottle doesn’t have a color name, but I think it’s Metal Metallic Gray from what I see on their site.  It’s been so long now, it’s time to do them again!

Yesterday was such a great day!  Several friends from the PALS group had a stitching get-together day at French Hens in Manning, hosted by Amy from Down Sunshine Lane.  There were a few photos taken, but not a one by me!  I had my phone and camera, but was lazy!  Good food and sweet tea, fun chatter and laughs, lots of inspiration, and even a few stitches!

Nicole was fretting over the ‘red’ colors in her Christmas Garden, but I thought it was lovely seems perfect with the greens to give a bit of ‘time worn’ look which I love!  We pondered, as usual, the differences of dye lots for over-dyed cottons.  Here’s a look at my fibers, which I thought were a couple shades darker than hers.  What do you think?

Karen was stitching a BBD piece that was nearly finished.  Of course she will have it whipped out in no time flat for her Challenge.  That girl can get’em done, can’t she?  Even with her darling paper crafts taking some of her ‘free’ time.  We talked about her next big a** project, which has sent me on the hunt! I’ll wait to not spoil her fun and let her tell you about it.  We also agreed that using DMC was always good for some projects.

I worked on La-D-Da, Love Birds.  It needed a few more strands, but got it finished.

On the drive home I went by to have dinner with DS at one of the best barbeque places Hudson’s.  It was just before the dinner rush of standing in line as they were when we left.  One thing he said was missing from the buffet was shrimp & grits, but don’t know that I could have held it since I couldn’t even get any cobbler for dessert.

Guess that’s enough for today off to stitch on a new project for March!
I'm always thankful for your kind words and comments!

I'm grateful for clear, sunny weather for driving.
