Finished Mystery

Hey, Friends!

First, I’m thinking of all you east coastal dwellers during this scary time.  I so hope that Irene takes a right and heads out to sea and that no one will suffer any loss and that you and your loved ones will be safe and sound.
I was at work on Tuesday and thought wonder why my monitors are quivering and a little rattle and creak through the building. Another girl down the way asked, Did y’all feel that?I said, Are there workers on the roof? She said, I don’t know, but I’m talking to somebody across campus, and they felt it too. We were quite surprised to learn that there had been a rather strong earthquake in Virginia about 300 miles away!  Also wishing you all safe and well, too!

I finished framing With Thy Needle and Thread’s Mystery Birds of a Feather.  She's hanging in my living room, and I really like the results.
Have you added lots of new goodies to your stash from all the recent new releases?  So many wonderful choices  I’ve started stitching some pieces, but they’ll be exchanges so they will remain mysteries for a while.  You’ll probably get to see them before Halloween.
I’m going to do some stitching now, and hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Young Girls and Angels

Hey, Friends!
8.21.11 Edited to Add Mystery Part III

Rather than another post, I decided to just add this photo to this post.  Last night I finished stitching With Thy Needle and Thread Birds of a Feather Mystery Sampler.  I'm trying to decide on framing now, and will post again after I decide.

Are you always amazed at how young the girls are who stitched these new reproduction samplers?  Take for example, the new one I saw at Shakespear’s Peddler this morning.  It’s a red primarily alphabet sampler with a cute verse, and this girl was eight years old!  Eight? The eight year old’s I’ve known couldn’t sit still 10 minutes
much less long enough to stitch a letter, much less an alphabet!  I know things are different, times have changed; but eight years old? What do you think?

Remember the mirror I bought at French Hens in Manning a couple of weeks ago?  Here’s the beginning of my collage.  The left is the Plum Street Sampler freebie that had been made into a pillow, but I couldn’t think of a way to dangle it from the wall J and the right is CHS, Sarah Hook.  The little sculpted angel is very hard to see.  I’ve had it for years, with no perfect place to hang until now!  These are the only two that were already stitched, but there are others to come...
Hope you’re having a joyful, cool weekend filled with your loved ones and lots of stitching time!  Thanks for taking time to drop by, and hope to see you again soon!

Movies, Designs, Weekend

Hey, Friends!

No updates of stitching for today, just checking in.  Scones are baking, and I’m sipping coffee.  I hear the rain pouring down hopefully to make a cooler day? Probably not.

I did a bit of stitching while waiting for Mom to get her hair done Saturday. DS is visiting this weekend, so we went to see Planet of the Apes.  It was a very good movie.  I cried, and cried, and cried some more.  Maybe it’s the pent up emotion from seeing my dad decline so quickly, maybe There was applause at the end of the movie!

Have you been watching the announcements from the Baltimore Stitching show?  What are your favorites?  I’ve seen a few Blackbird Designs Halloween-ey ones and a couple not, some cute Prairie Moon designs, that gorgeous The Farms of Hawk Run Hollow by Carriage House Samplings, and those sweet new treats from Puffin and Company.  Of course, just what I need is some more stash what I really need is to get stitching the ones I have and of course I do stitch, just not at the speed of light more like the speed of molassas.

Hope you’re all having a great stitching weekend!  Thanks for stopping by!

August Update

Hey, Friends!
Just a short update today.  Yesterday was stitch day with Amy’s PALS in Manning at the French Hens’ Restaurant.  As usual, we had a great time stitching, chatting, thinking about Stitching at the Beach, eating.  Most of my time was spent frogging, but that happens to everyone once in a while; right?  I didn’t get photos of everyone, but check out the others blogs to see what they’ve posted.  It was great to see everyone again!

We had a few “new” friends join us.  Myra and Chris from NC, Beverly from Hilton Head, and Laurie from NC ?  Both Beverly and Laurie said they’d be joining us at the next gathering which WILL BE Stitching at the Beach in October.

For a few visits I had been watching a mirror at French Hens.  Since the last time we were there in June I said, if it’s still there, I’ll check to see if it is for sale.  Well, it’s hanging in my home now, and will be the ‘center piece’ for the tombstone angels’ collage I plan to stitch.  I have at least one ready to frame, and after getting ready for PALS I’ll have to get on that project.  Hard to get a good photo, but here it is!
I had to giggle, my adult DS (was visiting recently and said, I like that rabbit stitching in the bathroom; is it new? It's been there since April, 2010, but the thing is, he does notice, eventually.  Hare’s Family.
I hope you’ve all been safe from storms, but have had some rain and are surviving the scorching heat we’ve had lately!  The car temperature has been 110 several days after work!  Keep your fans blowing, tinkling ice in your glass, and your needles flying!
