March Bride's Tree

I just snuck in under the line with the March Bride's Tree Ornament. March is the Flower Basket for Good Wishes.
See where my 'new' iron spit brown water on the graph? I'm SO glad it wasn't on the front piece. I haven't tried to remove it yet, only blotted it. I'm hoping cold water will take it out!

Been Stitching...

I'm trying to get back on my planned rotation for the year, but sometimes things just have to jump in. I was looking through my file cabinet of charts for something... and came across an old, 1984, booklet by Jeanette Crews Designs, called White Wicker by Patricia Sparks. I just HAD to do the Handmade piece. There are lots of others that could temp their way into the rotation, but for now I'm still trying to stay on track.

Prize Winner

One of the women I 'met' on the wXSw Yahoo Group, is preparing to open an online 'shop' to sell charts and fabrics. I'm excited for her, and am waiting to go shopping!

Joan had a contest and invited group members to suggest which fonts and colors looked the best for the new site, and I, being one who always has an opinion, gave my suggestions. I won the contest, with the winning prize being samples of one of her graphs and some of the hand-dyed fabrics she will have for sale there. They are SO pretty I can hardly wait to stitch something very special on them!!

These are 14 count Aida

These are 18 ct Aida

Thank you for your generosity, Joan. I am tickled to have won all these lovely things!!

Election - 2008

Will you vote?

I am not what I describe as a 'political' person, but I do have concerns about the State of our Union -- not only the economy and the war, but the real status of our nation.

Click on this link and listen; no, really listen. It is the best summary of the candidate's agenda I've heard. It answers questions that have often plagued me. I hope you can hear the source of Hope and Peace that I long to see in our Country.

A More Perfect Union

Will you vote?

Stash Organization

I've shared and talked about organizing stash many times, but won't you take a look at this gal's method of organization. Allison has really got it down pat.

Online Tatting Class

If you're interested in participating in an online tatting class, see the information below. I was fortunate to attend a class with Mimi at the Palmetto Tatters' Conference, and she is amazing!

Beginner's Tatting Class online lessons begins this week, Thursday March 6th 9 pm New York Time. Each lesson is 1 hour. The set of lessons has been expanded to 6 weeks - but with no real addition of techniques - to allow students more time in class for question and answer (we hope!)

The schedule:
Meet and Greet: March 6, 2008
Lesson 1: March 13, 2008
Lesson 2: March 20, 2008
Lesson 3: March 27, 2008
Lesson 4: April 3, 2008
Lesson 5: April 10, 2008

Beginner's lessons homepage: http://www.angelfire.com/planet/newtatters/ (don't forget to check out the completed homework of previous students!)

In specific, the page we will discuss during the "meet and greet" lesson is: http://www.angelfire.com/planet/newtatters/meet_greet.html

Bride's Tree - February Heart

~~Updated 3/3/08~~

Oops! Someone pointed out to me that I had omitted a few stitches in the upper left grape! She is fixed now, but a new photo is yet to be taken...

This ornament has been finished for over a week, but it’s not completed. Just got it pressed tonight, so thought I’d go ahead and post it before beginning on March – Flower or Flower Basket.

The design is from Best Wishes Ornaments by Rosewood Manor - stitched on 22ct Aida in Oatmeal using two strands of DMC cotton floss.

SBQ - Stitching Weakness?

This week’s SBQ was suggested by Rachel and is:

What is your cross stitch weakness? (i.e., What do you have to have when you see it, even if you are supposed to be on the Wagon?)

My weakness is wanting to have everything I see - not only cross stitch, but any kind of stitching. I've collected so many graphs, charts, and booklets there's no way they'll ever get done -- in two lifetimes!
